This new build was designed for a very pet-friendly family of four, who wanted functionality, practicality and a beautiful home that made the most of their panoramic views over Mount Canobolas.
Bathrooms
This was a new build, and the client wanted a relaxed country feel. We introduced pattern in the encaustic cement floor tiles, and flipped the colour palettes between the main bathroom and the ensuite, opting for black and grey in the main bath, and grey & white in the ensuite.
Antique silver wall sconces and Neu England Brodware taps added a layer of country sophistication. The hand-thrown Spanish subway tiles laid in a brick pattern add subtle detailing.
Kitchen
It was imperative the sink made the most of the sweeping views over Mount Canobolas, and the rest of the kitchen flowed from there!
With ample storage, hidden double bins, soft-close drawers, and a butler’s style sink, this kitchen feels grand but homely. Hints of timber in the display shelves add warmth and character, against a grand raked shiplap ceiling.
The walk-in pantry adjacent to the fridge hides away a microwave, groceries and incorporates generous storage for wine - a must for the owners who have their own wine business and cellar door.
Laundry & Mudroom
Believe it or not, this area was the prime focus of the build from the very beginning. With two kids and a menagerie of cats, dogs and horses on the property, space for washing, storing gear and containing dirt was a must!
The vinyl bench-seat is easily wiped down, with generous under-bench storage for shoes. Four cabinets opposite store coats, hats and cleaning products, as well as an ample supply of linen.
We integrated the heating into one of the laundry cabinets and ducted it separately with appropriate venting to create a custom drying cabinet for damp clothing…a must on a property when everyone’s often out and about. Integrated laundry hampers, an ironing board, shelves for washing baskets and space for two (!!) washing machines means there is a place for everything, and dirty and clean gear all have somewhere to go.
The ship-lap panelling above the bench-seat and the navy subway tiles unites this space with the adjacent kitchen.
